MISS
OHIO 2006
A singer, a dancer, a model and professional speaker,
Melanie Murphy, has spent this past year traveling the state of Ohio
sharing her talents with people of all generations.
She has been studying dance for over 18 years and was a professional NBA
dancer/cheerleader during the Cleveland Cavaliers 2005-2006 season. She has
traveled to Slidell, LA to perform for the victims of Hurricane Katrina and has
performed
the National Anthem at countless events. Melanie has appeared in several television commercials as part of Cleveland
State University's Image Campaign.
She has also been featured in commercials for Career and Technical Schools of Ohio, Playhouse Square Center & Rainbow
Babies and Children’s Hospital’s Family
Series, as well as Catan Fashions By Patrice.
Melanie currently serves as the celebrity host, reviewing movies of a
weekly show appearing on Time Warner Cable’s Another Look at the Movies and
Another Look. Melanie says
one of the highlights this past year was interviewing local Hollywood
celebrity, Halle Berry. Melanie has
also been a presenter at numerous churches around Ohio, where she ministered to
others by sharing her testimony and her love for Jesus Christ.
A
former Miss Brook Park herself, Melanie serves as the Co-director of the Miss
and Mr. Brook Park Pageant. This year, Melanie was honored in her hometown as the “Best
of Brook Park.” Melanie continues
to give back to her community, promoting her platform, The ABC’s of Volunteerism: Altruism Benefits Communities.
With her passion for children,
Melanie had the joy of creating her very own volunteer coloring book and
she also taught 2nd grade and kindergarten classes with Junior
Achievement. In
cooperation with the 3rd Battalion 25th Marines, Melanie
served as the official spokesperson for Toys for Tots and had the honor to help
Santa deliver toys to under-privileged families on Christmas Eve.
Melanie
is continuing her studies at Cleveland State University.
She is seeking a Bachelor degree in Digital Media and Film Production
with a certificate in Journalism with aspirations of becoming a television news
anchor and entertainment reporter. She
is also eager planning a Christmas wedding and will soon be Melanie
Murphy-Miller!
Melanie’s
personal motto and quote she lives by says, “Never settle for less than your
best!”
